William Alvey School - Maddie Day
On April 4th 2008 the William Alvey School in Sleaford - Maddies school from the age of 4 - , held a 'Maddie Day' .
The day was in rememberence of Maddison and was a fundraising event for the Trust.
There were 2 events .
Firstly , all the children , teachers and support workers wore black and white ( Notts County Colours ) and paid a small donation to do so .
Secondly , There was a competition , Put a ' Pattern on a Baton ' (Maddies favourite pass time, Baton Twirling) .
All the children from all age ranges were asked to design a pattern for their baton and enter it into the competition . There was a fantastic response and some pictures are at the end of the article for you to see.
Jane and I attended the assembly on April 4th , it was a very moving and uplifting experience, led by headmaster, Peter Jackson , They sang songs and hymns that Maddison loved and Jane handed out the prizes for the baton competition.
The whole event raised over £550 for the trust, a fantastic effort and greatly received, especially as it was from a place that Maddie loved so much.
